The California Campers Team
The Tour de France 2024 began in charming Italy, specifically in Florence, and took us to the coastal city of Rimini. Excited about this spectacle, we set out to watch the 1st stage!
The 2024 Tour de France started in our neighboring Italy. We set out to watch the first two stages, with stage 1 taking place from Florence to Rimini, and stage 2 from Cesenatico to Bologna. We had our @Rogla T-shirts ready! Let’s go!
The journey to Rimini takes about 5 hours. We stayed right at the Rimini parking, which also allows for overnight stays: http://www.riminiparking.it/. Since we had the whole day before the cyclists arrived, we decided to spend the time swimming and sunbathing.
At the finish line was a terrible crowd, and we couldn’t find a spot for ourselves. So we headed straight to the team buses, specifically to the Red Bull – Bora Hansgrohe bus, which was stationed right behind the finish line. There, we waited for Primož Roglič and the other cyclists from the RBH team. Jay Hindley, Primož Roglič’s teammate, gave a gift, a water bottle, to my son upon arrival. Super, super!”
Unfortunately, our weekend came to an end quickly. Since our daughter got a fever, we returned to Ljubljana and did not see the second stage. No worries, as we have planned to watch a few stages in France in July.
